Viruses in Iberian wolves: sentinels of ecosystem health at the wildlife–domestic interface

New publication! We investigated adenovirus, herpesvirus and parvovirus in Iberian wolves from Cantabria, detecting active infection and very high exposure to adenovirus and parvovirus, confirming their enzootic circulation in the population. As top predators, wolves serve as valuable sentinels of ecosystem health, and our results underscore the importance of pathogen surveillance at the wildlife–domestic interface in anticipating conservation and disease risks.
