For over three decades, researchers from more than 20 institutions across Europe have been delving into the fascinating dynamics of Iberian wild ungulates. From investigating population growth and disease ecology to addressing human-wildlife conflicts, their work has provided vital insights into managing and conserving these iconic species.
Our systematic review compiled 1,863 studies, highlighting a wide range of research areas, from genetics to ecosystem services. Notably, challenges such as rising ungulate densities, shifting habitats, and cross-species disease transmission demand innovative, collaborative solutions across borders.
With new methodologies and tools now available, this collaborative effort is shaping sustainable wildlife management strategies tailored to the unique challenges of the Iberian Peninsula
