I am a wildlife biologist mainly focused on the management and conservation of natural resources. Over my research career, I have expanded my interests to invasive species, wildlife infectious diseases, citizen science and human perceptions of natural assets. All my research interests are driven by a common goal and converge on an overarching question “How can scientific knowledge and advancements be used to meet the conservation issues and the socioeconomic needs that come along?” I am the editor of Lucanus – Revista de Ambiente e Sociedade (Lucanus – Journal of Environment and Society; http://www.lucanus.cm-lousada.pt/), which aims to foster the research and dissemination of natural values.
